I'm baaack!

So, I'm finally back online!! Did any of you miss me? LOL!! Had computer troubles, so I couldn't get online for almost a week... but I was able to get a bit of knitting done while I was away... (See what happens when I get away from the computer??) I cast on and finished the back for Iris, the short cardi in the same Rowan issue Audrey is in... I got Christina to teach me to crochet this Sunday, so I completed my first project - a birthday gift for my friend Eva. (She doesn't read this, so it's safe to post it here, lol). Since she's not really a purse or accessory-type girl, I decided to crochet her the coin purse we have at the shop using the Noro Daria. Now all I need is a zipper and I'm home free! :) Kristine asked me to knit up a quick scarf using the Cascade Yarns Alma yarn.... it's a cotton/viscose blend, while it's got a good hand to it, I just haven't gotten the hang of knitting with it. I'm not satisfied with the results so far, so I'm going to play around with needle size and see if that helps. It's like a strand of chenille wrapped with an almost twine type strand - which is what I think is making it a bit funky to work with. I'm planning on playing with it tomorrow since I've got the day off from work - wish me luck!! I finally finished the Kureyon Sophie - now she's just waiting to be felted! Hopefully tomorrow... that seems to be my mantra lately. If I don't get a lot of knitting done tomorrow, it'll be okay - I'll get a little knitting time in at the shop on Saturday (before I have to go to work... *sigh*).

Update!!

Argh!! It seems like forever since I've last picked up a WIP. I haven't picked up anything and actually worked on it in days - well, since my return to work. (Damn job.) I put down the scarf reworking project b/c it seems that my longer drop stitches just aren't coming out like I envisioned. *sigh* I suppose that eventually I'll get it done - I've just had to frog the same area of the scarf 3 times to try and get it right. Maybe the 4th time will be the charm. :) The Kureyon Sophie is still on the needles... I think that when I pick that one up again it won't take me long to finish it. Maybe I'll get some work done on it tomorrow... it's a day off from work for me! (Thank goodness. I thought I was beginning to lose my sanity... and I haven't even been back a full week... that doesn't bode well...) My goal is to get Sophie done this week... and make some good progress on the scarf. (Which BTW, needs a name... any ideas? Hmmmm...) Well, enough bitching for me - now back to the interrupted stitching! (Okay, that was bad, I know... lol!) Hopefully, I'll be able to take some pics soon and post them of the original Sophie - I have the unfelted one on my phone - but I need to pay that darn bill before I try, lol!

Okay, it looks as if I finally have gotten the links under control, lol! Actually, if you look on the side bar of the page, you'll notice a new category: on the needles. Hopefully I'll be able to keep up with updating it regularly. :) I cast on tonight for a garter/drop stitch scarf from some ribbon yarn that Kristine and Liz gave me to work with from the shop. (Not that I can remember what kind it is, lol.) Basically, it was knitted up into a scarf already and Liz asked me to rework it. So I spent last night getting the kinks out of it - note to self: wind the yarn into hanks before washing... once it dried today, I wound it into two balls (basically this one skein looked like it had yarn from two different dyelots - one noticeably darker than the other) and cast on for the main body of the scarf. Luckily, the darker bit wasn't too much of the skein, so I'm earmarking that for fringe. We'll see how it turns out - I'm actually sort of designing this as I go along, so I'm a bit nervous! :)

Audrey lives!

Well, I picked up Audrey today after putting her down two weeks ago... actually I picked her up last night after the SNB b/c I was feeling guilty that I've neglected her for so long. I am finally almost done with the sleeve! (Of course, that's what I started with... oh well) I've had to think on my feet with this one - for the size I am knitting, the arms are WAY TOO LONG! So, I've had to shorten them on the go - the size they are right now should be fine... they'll either just hit my wrists or they'll be 3/4 length. It's kind of sad that I'm not completely sure, right? *rolling eyes* I'm sure that I'm going to have to do the same to the body of the sweater - it's just a matter of how much. Hopefully I'll be able to get some knitting done tomorrow - it's my last day of vacation and with the stuff I've been hearing about what's been going on at work in my absence, I'm pretty sure that I won't get much knitting done for a while. :(

Spotty Dotty?

Which Sanrio Character are you?

Thanks Rossana for the link to the quiz! I was sort of surprised that I wasn't Hello Kitty, but it must have been that question where I answered that I thought of myself as flirty that did it... LOL! :)

Cashmere... yummy!

You are Cashmere.
You are sophisticated and luxe. You can often be
found in high-end boutiques and hobnobbing with
the upper crust. You are one of the beautiful
people and you don't let anyone forget it!

What kind of yarn are you?
brought to you by Quizilla

Okay, I'm not so sure that I completely agree with that assessment, but hey, it says I'm cashmere! :) I could live with that!

Kniting update... Finally!! (It's a long one...)

Okay, I know I haven't been blogging about my knitting for the past couple of days, but I'm going to catch up now, lol! :) As some of you know, I've been on vacation this past week (I don't want to go back to work on Thursday...) so I've been able to get some knitting done.

On Thursday, I visited Knit Happens... I picked up some yarn, of course. I decided last week that I would finally jump on the Sophie bandwagon and make one myself - so I needed some Cascade yarn. (Of course.) Then I picked up some Laughing Lizard Silky Way and a few other things... take a look:

Aren't they positively divine? The Cascade is a color called Ranier - it's got a lot of other colors twisted into it... yellows, reds, blues... and it's such a wonderful yarn to work with. There's plenty of give to the yarn, doesn't hurt my hands, and it was only $7.00 for a skein! (Can we say future birthday and Christmas gifts for the girlfriends?) The Silky Way is absolutely lurrrvely as well - but I don't know what to do with it!! I tried casting on for a scarf the other night and it just wasn't working... *sigh* I'll come up with something for it though.

And that's not all... when I got home that day, what should be waiting on my doorstep for me?? My 20 balls of Calmer that I purchased from Polly when she destashed a few weeks ago! Take a look:

*sigh* All that lurrrvely Rowan goodness (I really should just join the Rowan site and become a Rowanette... but that's another story, lol.) and I'm not sure what to do with it. I am going to make Iris from the same Rowan magazine that Audrey comes in - but I'm not sure what color... What to do?

Friday's Knit & Nosh at the shop went well... Lots of fun, of course! Leslie made a yummy trifle, lots of wine was drunk, I showed off Isadora and worked on Sophie. I even ordered a bag of Rowan yarn... I'll worry about what to do with that when I get it, lol. Sophie was supposed to be my new bit of mindless knitting - you know, the project I work on when Audrey starts driving me crazy. *rolling eyes* Well, Audrey seems to have been cast to the side while I finish up the second Sophie I'm working on. Yes, I said second... I finished the first one Saturday night and felted it - twice. I felt like such an idiot... but it's a really cute small bag now. I decided to use the Noro Kureyon that I had earmarked for the Booga Bag and see how it works for a Sophie (after seeing Alison from the blue blog use hers for a Sophie). So far, so good. Not as much give as the Cascade, but it looks like it's going to be really pretty once it felts up. I seem to work slower with the Kureyon than with the Cascade - I only got about 20 rows done at tonight's SNB, but oh well. I'll get over it, lol. :) Now I just need to find some closures for it. Okay, enough updating for now... I've been typing for almost 45 minutes now! Eek!! LOL! I'll be posting some more quizzes before I go though... I can't resist those damn quizzes! :)

Quiz time... knitting update to follow :)

You're a Spirograph!!  You're pretty tripped out,
even though you've been known to be a bit
boring at times.  You manage to serve your
purpose in life while expending hardly any
effort (and are probably stoned to the gills
all the while).

What childhood toy from the 80s are you?
brought to you by Quizilla

Thanks Jill for the quiz! It took a few days, but I finally got around to doing it, lol!
