So, it's not all about knitting, lol! :) / What Kind of Friend Are You?

So I'm surfing one of the sites I frequent since the boyfriend was deployed and I found this quiz on there... The results weren't surprising, but hey, it was fun - and I am a HUGE Friends fan! (I'll admit it, I cried during the finale... don't turn away, you know you did too!)

I'm Rachel Green from Friends!

Take the Friends Quiz here.

Okay, now onto the knitting news, lol! The aforementioned "choke-yourself-silly" scarf (see previous post) has now been named! After I finished it, I decided that she needed a name. From here on out, she will be known as the Isadora scarf. Named after Isadora Duncan, famous dancer who wore long, flowy scarves as her trademark. Also quite apropos (or however you spell it, lol) as the Laughing Lizard yarn used to knit it is named... Ballerina. I was going to keep her under wraps until Friday's Knit & Nosh, but since I finished her on Friday night, I decided I couldn't keep her under wraps for a whole week!! I wore her out on Saturday to the shop and then to the bookstore and out later that night - I got a ton of compliments. I'll be wearing it on Friday, so someone had better be there with a camera to take pics! Fiona is officially done - the button on my sidebar has been updated with the date that I finished the body. There's really not much progress with Audrey, but I did get a couple inches and an increase done while at Knit Happens on Saturday... and then bought the Noro yarn to start the Booga Bag. (I cast on for it last night...) I can't just have one WIP - I have such a case of Knitting ADD. I can't just have one project on the needles at any given time. I get too bored with it. I discovered that the hard way with the first sweater I did - halfway through the second sleeve, I got frustrated, bored and it sits in the box of UFOs... it'll be a nice sweater - if I ever finish it, lol.  There's no new news on the teaching front. I knew it'd be hard to get them all together, but they still tell me that they all want to learn. I'll have to earmark some pages in the Vogue Knitting book... just in case! lol!

Well, it's officially the first day of my 9 day vacation - so lots of time to knit! (Maybe I'll even make some major progress on Audrey. I really should go and join the knitalong...) I am thinking about joining the Harry Potter knitalong that I've been reading about on the Woolgathering Dot Net site. I've been dying to have a Gryffindor scarf to show my true colors! :) They don't look like they'll take too long either, just StSt in the round. I can do that, lol.

I really need to start posting pics of completed projects because I'm starting to rack them up now, lol! (I'm not bragging, really! I'm more amazed than anything else!) I'll be able to do that within the next month or so though... the boyfriend (wonderful man that he is) told me that for my birthday he's sending me one! *doing the happy dance* Of course, he's not sending it with this purpose in mind, but hey, when I can multitask, why not? Hehe!

So what do you all think (all 5 of you) of the new layout? I really needed something different - and it's fairly easy to customize. I probably would have liked the other one a hell of a lot better if it had been my own picture... I'm vibing this simplistic approach though. Of course, in the change, I lost all of my links and buttons, so I've been spending the last few hours trying to recover them. Of course, the list of blogs I read gets longer every day and everyone has a button... but I will list them all eventually, damnit! :)

So it's been a few days...

...and no knitting. What is wrong with me!? *shaking head* Tonight was the first night since Monday that I've been able to pick up my knitting and relax. Of course, the state that I was in last night would have been a dangerous one to knit in indeed, lol... I've learned my lesson about drunk knitting from some of those lovely ladies I knit with!  So, no progress has been made on either Audrey or the choke-yourself-silly scarf, but maybe later. I still need to head over to Knit Happens to pick up a button for my Fiona - especially since the recipient is going to be out here at the end of next week! EEK!

A new start

It's a start...

Well, it's a start to Audrey... I cast on a sleeve last night and started to knit it... now here's the problem. The instructions are telling me to increase by 1 st every 14 rows and to take it into the rib pattern... how the hell am I supposed to do that? Do I cast on one at the beginning and end - that won't look as smooth as one st or so in. Am I just reading these wrong? *sigh* I knew that something would come up and it wouldn't be as smooth as I had hoped, but it's all good. I'll get it done. Maybe someone at the Stitch 'N Bitch tomorrow night will have the answer. Anyone have any hints? LOL!!

Yummy!

You're a Caramel!!  You are known for your
sweetness. You are comfortable with yourself,
and help others feel the same way about
themselves.  You are generally friendly to
everyone, and believe in second chances.

Which kind of candy are you?
brought to you by Quizilla

Thanks to Kristine, who got this from Polly! I am such a sucker for these things, lol! Isn't it a good thing that I lurrrve caramel? Oooh, some caramel dipped apples would be good right now... (I really shouldn't do this when I'm PMSing, lol!)

Guess who's here? Fiona is!! :)

Look at what I finished!!!!

She's finally here!! Well, almost - I still need a button and will probably pick one up at Knit Happens tomorrow just to finish it. As much as I love how this bag looks and all the effort I put into this, I am so friggin' ready to be done with it. I am hoping that Liza loves her prezzie - I'll find out in a couple of weeks when she gets her rear out to the East Coast again. As I keep telling myself, I finished my first knitalong! I know I can do it now! Woo-hoo! Actually, I got the biggest compliment on my knitting last night - I was out having a girls' night in with some friends and the ones that I would never have thought of being interested in knitting were impressed with what I've done. (I think that it was b/c nothing I've done has been "Grandma" and it's definitely me: trendy, cute, lol) They've asked me to teach them to knit - I'll believe it when I get them all in a room (and I get some confidence, lol), but I have 4 or 5 students now... way cool. Well, my reward for finishing Fiona with only one other WIP (the scarf - I'm taking my time with it - BTW, Phyllis, I am knitting it on 13's and it's only 10 stitches wide... I love the skinny scarf look, lol) is I am casting on for Audrey tonight. I think that I'm going to start with a sleeve to get into the groove... I'll be posting more as it progresses!

Finally, pictures!!! :)

So I finally got around to getting film developed, so now I've got pictures for you guys!! This is the yarn I was raving about the other day...

Isn't it positively divine??? (Sorry about the size... I though it'd be small enough, oh well...) Even as close up as this is, you can't see the beautiful greens in the colorway. At least you can get somewhat of an idea at the texture. Once it's done, I'll have to bite the bullet and have a picture taken of me. I definitely can't be giving this away as a prezzie! I'll have to sit down and play with the rest of the pics I uploaded to see if they are all really as huge as this one. Well, I'm off to complete some more inches in this scarf and do some work from home - yuck!

Fiona keeps going... I've put it down for a couple of days b/c I bought this uber-cool hand dyed yarn from Knit Happens on Friday! To check out a picture of it (b/c I don't want to steal any of their bandwidth without them knowing, lol) check out their blog - I ended up getting the blue/teal/green colorway. I am excited to see it knitted up! Liz and Kristine actually did the dyeing themselves (it's part of their own label, Laughing Lizard) and Phyllis and I happened to grab a hank of the ballerina yarn... even before it was in the system and without labels! LOL!!! They were so nice and entered them in the system, just so we could buy them that night... (I don't even want to look at my bank account right now - I spent some money in there, lol! ) I also finally decided that yes, I will knit the Audrey. (As well as update the links on the sidebar... once I figure out how, lol) I bought the yarn Friday as well - Rowan Calmer in Coral. I've decided not to eat while knitting it so I can be a few dollars richer and a few pounds lighter and look damn fabulous in that Audrey, lol!!  I haven't cast on yet, though... I've still got to finish Fiona and knit this new yarn up first!  I'm also trying to decide whether motime is the ideal place for this blog... as I'm looking at all these other blogs - I'm thinking that there might be better places out there... so we'll see. Any recommendations? I'll get back to the laddery Fiona in a couple of days - I think I'm just going to line it before I give it as a prezzie... at least she loves me, right? Hehehe!

You Are Most Like Carrie!

You're quirky, flirty, and every guy's perfect first date.
But can the guy in question live up to your romantic ideal?
It's tough for you to find the right match - you're more than a little picky.
Never fear... You've got a great group of friends and a great closet of clothes, no matter what!

Romantic prediction: You'll fall for someone this year...
Totally different from any guy you've dated.

Which Sex and the City Vixen Are You Most Like? Take This Quiz Right Now!

So it's not about knitting... but it's all about me!  LOL! ;) Much thanks go out to Kristine, since I found this quiz on her blog! It gave some much needed laughter on such a crappy day... More about that another time. Me, I'm off to bed, probably to knit more of Fiona, lol! I promise that I will get some pics up on here this weekend - I finally got pics of Fiona in progress... I really need to buy a digital camera! *sigh* Maybe I'll even get some of my WIP's to boot... *shaking head* It's after midnight and I'm still up (when I have to be at work at 8 in the morning! EEK!)

So, I've been slacking on posting the past couple of days.... I went to my SNB "meeting" tonight (really, it's just a bunch of us who knit and talk, lol) and definitely made some progress on my Fiona bag (hopefully pics will follow soon) - just 2 more inches before I start the first border... I'm getting more and more nervous as I get closer, lol! After talking to Erika tonight, I've finally decided on my next project! (Of course I decide before I'm even finished with this one...) In the newest Rowan magazine, number 35, there is an absolutely beautiful top - very curve-hugging, very retro (50's retro, that is)... the Audrey! There is a knitalong going on with it, once I get the yarn and start, I may see if I can join... (I'm definitely thinking if I wear this around the DB, he's going to love it... of course since he won't be back for awhile, I've got some time to work on it - and on the body going in it, lol!) I just need to get the black capri pants (or "Holly D pants" as my friend Eva calls them) and the kitten-heeled shoes ready!

My first post!

I thought I'd have a lot to say when I started a blog, but words are escaping me right about now.  I am hoping that I'll be able to keep this going so I keep my knitting friends updated on my projects and all my other friends updated on everything else! LOL!  As soon as I get some pictures of some of my WIPs (Works In Progress, for you non-knitters, hehe), I'll post them here! Right now, I am working on Brooks' Fiona bag for the Fiona Knitalong hosted by Knitalong Mom (and one of the owners of Knit Happens, a very cool LYS in Old Town Alexandria) Kristine! I am currently thinking about giving it to my best friend when she heads out this way on her move to Georgia from Monterey, CA. Hopefully I'll be able to finish it soon so I can work on one for myself! LOL!!
